                                                   what's this?

My last trip to Boston was in May of 2009, and once again, I had a blast. We stayed at the Boston Colonnade Hotel (right downtown) and we took the Amtrak to get there.

I’m a nut for history so I love Boston. Walking the Freedom Trail and getting to see first hand such sites at The Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, the site of the Boston Massacre, the U.S.S. Constitution, Paul Revere’s House and other places I’d read about since I was six years old, was an incredible experience for me. And a short drive in any direction can bring you to another chapter in our country’s history: The Lexington Green where they fired the shot heard round the world, Plymouth Rock where the Pilgrims landed, and the site of the infamous Salem Witch Trials (okay, I admit, this place has become a little silly). Of course, Boston is more than just history. Since it houses a ridiculous number of top colleges and universities, it has a vibrant nightlife with new music and clubs, wonderful theatre and museums, terrific restaurants, and a great variety of accommodations to match your wallet. On that note, I especially enjoyed the "unofficial tour" of Harvard. It was insightful and a lot of fun.

The good news is, getting to Boston is easy no matter how you do it. Logan International Airport just underwent major construction and is ready to receive you. In addition, the big dig is over! So if you're driving, here's a suggestion: Leave the car parked during your stay. Boston is a very walkable city, so get yourself (and your travelmates) a Charlie card and take the T.

In addition to history, you'll note Boston is an extremely GREEN city in more ways than one. Everywhere you turn you'll find lots of green space to sprawl out and take in the sun and people watch. Be sure to check out the official tourism bureau for all the latest news, specials and tips while traveling to Boston. Have a great trip, ya' chowderhead!
